With an inventive touch and an eye for all things pretty and simple, French designer Philippe Starck pairs up with Brazilian footwear brand Ipanema for a whole new collection stocked with slippers, sandals and flats to make any woman feel, so to speak, like she really could be the girl from Ipanema.
Ipanema promises us that there’s a color + style combination for every woman, every mood and every lifestyle. If she’s artsy, glamorous, nature-loving or sophisticated and chic, there will always be a perfect match for her and the outfits that make her feel her very best.
As a lover of organic design and employing a minimalistic approach to his creations, French designer Philippe refreshes us this summer with footwear beaming with citrus tones and neutrals complemented by uncluttered styles. In this collection, there is no such thing as too simple to be considered beautiful and elegant.

Women will also love to know that this collection was developed with 30% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable. To achieve Philippe’s organic and simple designs, the footwear’s production process was shifted to become more “artisanal than industrial.†Some stages of the shoe-making process were manually accomplished to help meet Ipanema and Philippe’s shared objective of making every pair fit perfectly, rather than ending up with mass or commercially produced produced products.
“The Ipanema with STARCK collection explores the territory of high elegance paired with the utmost minimalism. When you reach elegance with a few dollars or euros, this is no longer magic; it is a modern miracle,†says Philippe as he extends his passions for innovative fashion and bettering objects in this project in this collaboration.
