Icon of Democracy: Remembering Cory

On this day in 1933, former President Cory Aquino was born in Paniqui, Tarlac. As her destiny would dictate, she would eventually grow up to not only become the Philippines’ first female president, but most notably an icon and restorer of democracy during one of the country’s darkest times.

Revisit some of the best moments of President Cory Aquino’s life captured in these photos featured in PeopleAsia‘s “Remembering Cory” commemorative issue published in August 2014.
