Chinese New Year at New World Manila Bay

Food plays a vital role at any New Year celebration. In particular, for the Chinese, they believe each dish at the traditional New Year’s feast symbolizes something important for every aspect of their life, from love to family, and work and health.

Li Li, New World Manila Bay Hotel’s premier Cantonese restaurant, is the perfect venue for get-togethers for the Lunar New Year. With their team of seasoned Hong Kong chefs, Li Li has become a home to authentic Cantonese cuisine.

For this coming new year, the restaurant prepares two special menus for Jan. 27 and 28. Each menu features traditional Chinese dishes to invite protection, good luck, fortune and prosperity, unity, good health and even fertility this Year of the Red Fire Rooster.

The Prosperity Menu A features a sumptuous Barbecued Suckling Pig; Japanese Conpoy Soup with Abalone, which symbolizes fertility and good fortune; Braised Dried Oysters for good fortune; Steamed Stuffed Eel with Fish Maw and Shrimp Mousse with Crab Coral Sauce to improve complexion; as well as Fried Glutinous Rice, a savory treat served with air-dried meat; and Pan-fried Glutinous Rice Cake, representing one’s family “sticking” together through thick and thin.

On the other hand, Prosperity Menu B offers a more elaborate and extravagant menu for those looking for a truly royal feast. The menu starts with a Roasted Crispy Suckling Pig served with jelly fish; Braised Bird’s Nest Soup and Japanese Conpoy that’s said to promote fertility; Wok-fried Prawns with dried fungus; the delectable and equally delicious Charcoal-roasted Pipa-style Duck; Steamed Stuffed Eel, ending with two kinds of glutinous rice dishes.

Aside from the Prosperity Set Menus, select traditional Chinese new year dishes are also available a la carte, with the addition of the Steamed Garoupa with Yunnan Ham on Lotus Leaves and Superior Sauce which is a strong symbol of prosperity.
