After having raised more than P 4 billion in projects and donations since the nationwide lockdowns in March, Alliance Global Group, Inc. (AGI) chairman Dr. Andrew L. Tan was given the Global Excellence Corporate Award by the International Chamber of Commerce-Philippines (ICCP) for his valiant efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the ICCP citation, AGI and Tan were recognized for “the company’s efforts to increase the country’s testing capacity and improve diagnostic systems by the establishment of COVID-19 laboratories, provision for the needs of the masses by means of sponsoring programs such as Project Ugnayan and the McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen, which fed thousands of urban poor families, and support for frontliners, government programs, and local businesses through financial and material donations.”
Aside from these, Tan also donated 1 million liters of disinfectant alcohol, food and PPE distribution to frontliners, construction workers, poor communities, and other partner beneficiaries, as well as donations to various local government units, hospitals, and other organizations.
Earlier this year, Tan was also recognized as one of PeopleAsia’s “People of the Year,” awardees. “Sustainability continues to be at the forefront of our company’s businesses under Alliance Global. The various programs and activities that we have put in place for years now are aligned with the 17 Sustainable Goals of the United Nations,” said Tan, who graced one of the 20th anniversary issue’s five solo covers.
