The next time you’re in Makati City, be sure to drop by Toyo Eatery. Take it from us—if not, well, take it from William Reed Business Media, the entity that publishes the annual Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list. After all, because of them, Toyo Eatery isn’t just one of the best places to eat in the Philippines, but across Asia, as well!
On its seventh edition, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 awards night was held at the Wynn Palace Macau last Tuesday, March 26, to honor the acclaimed restaurants.
Toyo Eatery, led by Chef Jordy Navarra, was the only Filipino restaurant (and the only Filipino entry) to be featured on the prestigious list, making it to the 43rd spot. For the restaurant, it is no stranger to the recognition. It won the Miele One to Watch award last year. The last Filipino winners to be named one of the best in Asia were Antonio’s and Gallery Vask. However, last year’s awards night saw no Philippine restaurant make the cut.
Among the other winners are Tokyo’s Narisawa, Bangkok’s Gaggan, Tokyo’s Den and Singapore’s Odette, which ended Gaggan’s four-year streak at the top of the list.
And just in case you’re wondering, the restaurant’s open from Tuesdays to Saturdays. Thank us later!
