Ipanema is making some sleek footwear for the summer

Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean that you have to wear the ratty old pair of slippers that you’ve had since high school (we all have one) 24/7.

This summer, Brazilian footwear brand Ipanema is debuting its newest collaboration with designer Philippe Starck. The collection was designed with a bionic approach—learning from the body and its movements—to design slippers and sandals that work in harmony with the human nature.

“The closer you get to the body, the less you can lie,” Philippe explains. “You have to go to the minimum, to the square root, in order to reach elegance and timelessness. The Ipanema with Starck collection explores the territory of high elegance paired with the utmost minimalism.” The collection’s color palette features clean blends of black and white monochrome and soft orange tones.

The simple elegance of his footwear is complemented by the technical updates for both the soles and straps. The former features an even softer formulation to yield maximum comfort with round edges and clean designs and EVA material, which is soft, durable, light and flexible. The latter is made with similar materials so as to be resistant to tension and deformation.

All Ipanema with Starck footwear is made with 100 percent recyclable materials, with each sole and strap assembled by hand.

The Ipanema with Starck collection is available at Shoe Salon in Virra Mall, Shangri-La Mall, UP Town Center, Trinoma, Robinsons Ermita Manila and Glorietta; Bambu in Bonifacio High Street, Glorietta and Nuvali; SM Department stores; Landmark Department Store; and the Ipanema boutiques in SM Clark, SM Pampanga, SM Sta. Rosa and SM Dasmarinas. It can also be ordered online at www.zalora.com.
