Passion meets compassion as international ballerina and first Filipino-American principal dancer Stella Abrera, as well as eight of her fellow dancers in the American Ballet Theater, partners with the Ayala Foundation to stage a night of dance, music and artistry this April 6 and 7. The proceeds of the ballet show, titled An Intimate Evening with Stella Abrera & American Ballet Stars, will go to Ayala Foundations CENTEX Program, which provides public school children from economically underprivileged families an opportunity to receive quality education.
“This wonderful gesture from Stella Abrera and her fellow American Ballet stars provide a much welcome boost for the continuing development of hundreds of students and teachers participating in the CENTEX program,” says Ayala Foundation president Ruel Maranan.
The show will feature sequences from famous ballets such as Don Quixote and Romeo and Juliet, as well as dances to the music of Dmitri Shostakovich and Johan Stauss II. Joining Abrera on the stage are Prix de Lausanne Espoir and Princess Grace Foundation Award winning Gillian Murphy, 2007 Youth American Grand Prix NYC Final’s Hope awardee Catherine Hurlin, Princess Grace Award and Chris Hellman Dance Award winner Blaine Hoven, principal dancer Isabella Boylston, Roman Zhurbin, Jose Sebastian, Joowon Ahn and Arron Scott. A tear-jerking performance with scholars from Steps Dance Studio and the CENTEX Scholarship dance program is set to end the performance.
“We take a lot of pride in playing a part in enhancing the quality of life for the Filipino. Part of that is the encouraging of arts and culture in our spaces and to bring moments of pleasure and enjoyment,” explains Mariana Zobel-Aboitiz. “It’s really important to us to bring the promotion of arts on the international stage to the Philippines and to the Filipino.”
An Intimate Evening with Stella Abrera & American Ballet Stars is co-presented by the Ayala Foundation, Ayala Group of Companies and Patek Philippe. The show is also supported by The Aivee Group, Distinqt and Nespresso. Tickets are available on www.ticketworld.com.ph.
