After more than 30 years sitting in front of mirrors and learning from some of the world’s most sought-after makeup artists, German supermodel and ’90s fashion icon Claudia Schiffer finally decided to launch her own makeup line with German cosmetic brand ARTDECO. With Claudia lending her name to the makeup line, expect demand for its products to pick up anytime soon.
Beauty maven Agoo Bengzon couldn’t agree more. “Back then, they [Claudia and her fellow supers] did their own makeup. They were exposed to so much back stage, so I guess she would be the perfect person to come out with a makeup line,” she said.
The products weren’t distributed initially in the country, but fortunately for us, Claudia’s glamorous makeup collection has finally arrived in the Philippine market—and women, especially beauty junkies, are excited.
Her glitzy makeup collection was officially launched, in partnership with Store Specialists, Inc. and Beauty Bar PH, recently.
Said to be on par with other leading makeup brands, the mid-range makeup collection features high-quality, paraben-free products, which promises its users supermodel-worthy looks.
With ’90s hits playing in the background, guests sat in front of the mirror, as they tried the products themselves or have their makeup done by professionals.
Asked what she expects from the collection, Agoo said: “It has to be easy, the colors have to be wearable, and I guess timeless just like she (Claudia) is.”
And the collection, despite drawing inspiration from a ’90s personality, is spot on. As appearances go, it’s impossible to miss the sleek, sophisticated design of the products’ pink in-lays, gold corners and smooth compact finish.
The collection highlights the Quad Eye Shadow palette consisting of four easy applications and weightless colors in different hues.
Also noteworthy are the quick drying and nourishing Waterproof Eyeliner with high pigment concentration as well as the clump-free, voluminous Super Long Lash Mascara—both of which, in my experience, lasted through the night, smudge-proof.
The triangle-tipped, wax-based Eyebrow Styler crayon is also a contender for top product, as it enables users to effortlessly draw and define their brows, and then blend out imperfections using the built-in spoolie.
And what about lipsticks? “Lipstick is an essential,” Agoo said. The line’s Cream Lipstick, available in five shades, gives a supple and fuller effect to the lips with its creamy texture and intense colors. No dry lips, guaranteed!
Meanwhile, I nearly gasped after seeing the Illuminator’s delicate pink shimmer on my cheeks and brows. This product gives the skin that perfect subtle glow that does not fade despite the city’s rather harsh weather.
The Contouring Powder, No Color Setting Powder, and Blusher have this velvety texture that makes the skin look soft and plump while enhancing one’s facial features.
The capsule collection also takes pride in its moisturizing yet weightless Lip Gloss, available in two shades and, of course, the long-lasting, ultra-gloss Nail Polish.
“She (Claudia) knows already what women want, what women need and what would be perfect for you if you’re applying it yourself. For me, this collection is really all about being able to do your own makeup,” Agoo said.
The beauty expert acknowledged how makeup could improve a person’s confidence just as they did in Claudia’s case. “It might seem shallow to some people but really, looking good—it boosts your self-confidence. It’s not superficial at all. It has a lot to do with your emotional stability,” Agoo added.
Although mid-range, the cosmetics exude this subtle luxury that one would often associate with expensive brands.
