As a recipient of ASEAN Green Hotel awards for two consecutive years now, Bellevue Resort Bohol, which is geared towards sustainable green initiatives, recently held Panglao, Bohol’s first-ever plogging event in support of the worldwide Earth Hour 2019 campaign.
310 dedicated “Earth Heroes” from various sectors and local volunteers gathered at The Bellevue – Pavilion to participate in the activities of the day, which consisted of a combination of jogging and picking up litter along the streets. With the event, the hotel hopes to “promote the importance of keeping our environment clean and safe.”
A total of 1,095 kg. of non-biodegradable trash was collected from Doljo Road all the way up to Doljo Beach. This event is in support of The Bellevue Resort’s sustainable tourism advocacy. Because of the success of the event, the hotel plans to have the plogging event annually from now on.
The resort also hosted environmental awareness talks after the plogging and waste segregation activities to help further educate the members of the community of the importance of taking care of the environment.
Among the other activities held at The Bellevue Resort during Earth Hour 2019 was an eco-fair that featured various eco-friendly products from local partners in Bohol, a Bellevue Kids Club’s Organic farm educational tour, including a tree-planting session for the local kids in Doljo, and a lights-off dinner event from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
