“Walk-Through” fashion event kicks into high gear at Ayala Malls Circuit

MAINPOSTER_NEWThe “Walk-Through” is Fashion Revolution Philippines’ first artist collaboration “activation,” wherein global fashion industry issues are communicated through creative media.

This project seeks to take the conversation on sustainable fashion further, exploring in unexpected ways the delicate web of the industry that we currently find ourselves embedded in. The project is supported by the British Council as part of the Creative Commissions Initiative.

To be held from October 24 to 27, the “Walk-Through” event is done in partnership with Ayala Malls Circuit, in collaborations with WeWork, Futur:st, Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities, Make Sense, Circulo, Denuo and Altum.

As a group of multi-disciplinary Filipino artists, the “Walk-Through” seeks to provoke curiosity with work that immerse in the multi-verse of complex aspects of our generation’s fashion revolution.

The artists in “Walk-Through” – Anina Rubio, Pam Quinto, Tanya Villanueva, Tekla Tamoria, and Zeus Bascon + Jas Fernandez – explore themes, philosophies, practices, studies, technologies and socio-economic insights for a wide range of audiences. What each work has in common with the other is the sense of active participation – an invitation for the viewer to walk-through, feel and ponder on.

As a companion to the exhibit, Fashion Revolution Philippines will release its first zine during the event. Titled “Gossamer,” the zine evokes the idea of transparency, which the zine aims to bring in the context of the fashion industry.

In calling to mind the image of the spider silk, the zine also sheds lights on the strength, fragility and beauty of the fashion industry that binds us together because of and through fashion, giving emphasis on the sense of community and collaboration crucial to addressing systemic issues.

The “Walk-Through” fashion event is held in partnership with IOptions Ventures, in collaboration with Make Sense, Altum Concepts, Denuo, &Again Clothing, In A Nutshell, Katha Lifestyle Store, Forth Co., Upcycle Philippines, Glorious Dias, Wear Forward and the UP Writers Club.
