Gucci stands side-by-side with the global community to fight the COVID-19 pandemic by making two donations to crowdfunding campaigns–one in Italy, where the company is based, and another one for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund in support of the World Health Organization.
At a time when most of us are at home, Gucci is calling its supporters from all over the world to stand with the house in raising funds to fight COVID-19. This they can do by helping health services with needed equipment and powering scientists who are busy working round-the-clock on possible vaccines and treatments.
The initiative follows donations from Kering, Gucci’s parent company in China, Italy and France, and the production of over 1 million masks and gowns for healthcare personnel.
In Gucci’s home country, Italy, which has been particularly affected by the crisis, €1 million will be donated to the valiant efforts of the National Civil Protection Department through Intesa Sanpaolo’s crowdfunding platform with a dedicated webpage www.gucci.forfunding.it where the Gucci community can also make donations.
Internationally, Gucci will contribute €1 million to the United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund in support of the World Health Organization (WHO) through a Facebook $10-million matching fundraiser.
The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund aims to support WHO’s lifesaving work across countries, including helping track and understand the spread of the virus, strengthening patient care and ICUs, improving supplies for health personnel, including of protection devices and accelerating the development of vaccines and therapies.
The Gucci community is invited to donate to the Solidarity Response Fund for WHO through the “donate” feature available in the luxury brand’s IG stories (www.instagram.com/Gucci).
The brand’s other social media channels will also feature links redirecting people to other channels where they can donate to both crowdfunding initiatives.
