A Future Together, a short film by Wim Wenders, celebrates the brand’s futuristic-inspired Autumn-Winter 2021 collection, while paying homage to its founder’s love affair with Hollywood and films.
Salvatore Ferragamo has collaborated with three-time Academy Award-nominated director Wim Wenders to produce the short film A Future Together, the centerpiece of the Italian luxury goods brand’s Autumn-Winter 2021 collection advertising campaign.
Evoking the atmosphere of a utopian sci-fi movie, A Future Together has a slightly futuristic and postmodern feel that teems with multi-dimensional and multi-layered reflections that excite and at the same time beguile its audience with myriad possibilities and potentials.

Shot on location at Milan’s CityLife complex, Wenders’ story follows the progress of a young stylish film director (as played by rising movie star Gaia Girace), as she goes about motivating her diverse and impeccably dressed cast members before they embark on their sci-fi adventure.
Increasingly, however, her focus on this futuristic narrative becomes intertwined in the beginnings of a personal story that’s also teeming with potentials. This personal story is set in the present, with her mysteriously handsome sound engineer (as played by musician and model Felix Sandman) essaying a key role.
Adding a third layer to Wenders’ tale-within-a-tale, the visually arresting campaign includes a striking 24-image portfolio captured by Vito Fernicola. Providing the outfits to all these stories is “Future Positive,” the Salvatore Ferragamo Autumn-Winter 2021 collection, which is presented in all its bold, futuristic glory through film.
Wenders, the man at the center, ably translates the theme’s fresh perspective by incorporating optimism as well as profound but relatable touches to a campaign that celebrates technology and the future through Ferragamo’s futuristic-inspired collection.
Just as Ferragamo’s artisans have expertly spun a collection that is both luxurious and provocative, Wenders has used his visual storytelling expertise to craft a reflection that is both thought-provoking and compelling.
Wenders said: “Developing a positively energetic story inside the framework of a futuristic setting is a challenge at a time when the future is generally regarded as bleak and dystopian. But sometimes, when the cards are stacked up against you and you have to fight many obstacles, the result can achieve an extra aura of beauty.
“This was definitely the case at our Ferragamo shoot. Not only did the sun break through the gray sky of Milan, so that the futuristic sites could show their best potential, but also our two young stars were luminous and enchanted. Most of all, the collection, when it was finally revealed and worn by the actors, turned out more radiant and spectacular than in our wildest dreams. All we had to do as a film team was to capture that sudden explosion of glorious beauty in front of us.”
This is a campaign and collection that look to the future in order to appeal to those who are determined to shape their own destinies in a positive fashion. The project reflects in a most authentic way Salvatore Ferragamo’s DNA as a “heritage” brand that will forever promote the progressive formula upon which its success is based. This is to combine technological innovation with aesthetic invention to create designs that reflect our moment now, while remaining timeless.
Ferragamo’s collaboration with Wenders marks the latest chapter in the brand’s history that has long been intimately linked with the evolution of film, going as far back as the starting point of founder Salvatore Ferragamo’s Hollywood Boot Shop in 1923.
