Lea Salonga unveiled her first-ever wax figure, marking a significant milestone in her career. While the figure will soon be displayed at Madame Tussauds Singapore, it was proudly introduced to the world at Solaire Resort Entertainment City, giving her Filipino fans a special preview of the tribute.

Known for her award-winning performances in Miss Saigon and Les Misérables, as well as her unforgettable roles as the singing voice of Disney princesses Jasmine and Mulan, Lea was visibly moved during the unveiling. “It’s crazy and wonderful and unbelievable,” she said. “I manifested it as a kid, but I never thought it would actually happen. Seeing the likeness in front of me is surreal—everything was color-matched perfectly, from the hair to the eyes. It’s almost freaky how alive it looks.”

Lea’s wax figure is elegantly dressed in her blue gown designed by her close friend, renowned Filipino designer Rajo Laurel. Lea refers to it as her “workhorse gown,” explaining its significance. “This gown served me so well for many performances, and it just felt right to continue its journey on this wax figure,” she shared.

The unveiling was not only a personal milestone but also a testament to the global recognition of Lea’s influence in the arts. Reflecting on her legacy and the message she hopes to send to young Filipino artists, she said, “This could happen to you. If you have ambitions in the performing arts and reach global success, you could very well end up in Madame Tussauds one day. I’m still in disbelief that this day has come.”

For Lea, this wax figure also represents more than just a tribute to her career. “It’s different from accepting an award for something you’ve done. This is a symbol of who you are and how important you are to people,” she explained.

If there were more than one wax figure of  Lea, “My mom actually wants to keep one of them,” she added.

Lea’s wax figure will officially be displayed at Madame Tussauds Singapore starting tomorrow, September 20, joining an elite lineup of global icons. No doubt, this momentous achievement cements her place as a lasting figure of inspiration, continuing to uplift and inspire generations of artists and fans alike.
