On February 5, the Earth Pig will usher in the Chinese New Year. Aside from promises of blessings and good fortune, the Year of the Pig also promises to be an auspicious period of success in many spheres of your life.
Even before the clock strikes 12, the magic of the coming new year is already at The Manila Hotel. The grand and elegant main lobby shimmers with golden bamboo bending in graceful arches, adorned with pretty red lanterns – a modern prosperity garden. This ethereal display is an art installation created by renowned designer Rachy Chua.
In keeping with the occasion, the hotel has prepared a series of special treats and unforgettable experiences to kick off Chinese New Year.
The traditional “tikoy,” also called as “nian gao,” is available at The Lobby until February 6. The pig-shaped cakes with its adorably chubby faces and big ears are the perfect gifts for family and friends. And they come in two flavors: pandan and white sugar.
The celebration on February 5 will kick-off at 10:15 AM with a lion dance performed by the renowned Golden Lion dancers. The dance will begin with the eye-dotting ceremony at the main entrance, after which the lions will parade around the hotel to the beat of rhythmic drums – a tradition designed to scare away evil spirits.
Meanwhile, at Red Jade restaurant, the chef and his team will enchant diners with two set menus comprising ten dishes each, such as Long-Life Crab Claw with Minced Shrimp, Crispy Fried Pigeon, and Baby Rock Lobsters in Cheese and Butter with E-Fu Noodles. The Chinese New Year set menu will be available from February 4 to 6 at Red Jade, for both lunch and dinner.
The Manila Hotel’s Chinese New Year package rate starts at P 6,888. An overnight stay includes a buffet breakfast for two adults and two children, a complimentary box of tikoy, and a dining voucher worth P 1,000 for Red Jade.
