Bag to differ as you strut your stuff in the new normal

Corso Como88 recently opened its first retail store at Ayala the 30th, making distinctive luxury goods from Italy and the rest of Europe accessible to Filipino shoppers.

Do you need another luxury bag to add to your collection? Perhaps. You’ll only know with certainty once you come face-to-face with that dream item because, in this Italy-based Filipino’s book, nothing comes close to the thrill and fulfillment that in-person shopping brings.

Corso Como88 owner and COO Imelda Sciandra and brother Dennis Menguito, CEO

That’s Imelda Menguito Sciandra’s prime motivation, apart from being a lover of luxury bags, herself, of course, for opening Corso Como88, the newest and perhaps one of the biggest multi-brand luxury stores to open in Metro Manila in recent memory.

She wants to connect bag connoisseurs like her with the objects of their desire in person. Corso Como allows them to that and more, as they can linger and see up close and even touch the items on display. It even carries selected styles and brands of luxury shoes they can fit. If customers are willing to wait, the store is also open to catering to orders.

Although the range of items is decidedly geared towards women, men can also chance upon a good selection of luxury finds—from bags, shoes to belts. The most expensive item in its inventory, says Imelda, is still the Louis Vuitton trunk. And, oh, all the items for sale are not vintage or pre-loved. They’re as new and as gleaming as the day they left the various luxury houses’ ateliers.

Corso Como88 recently opened its first retail store at Ayala the 30th, making distinctive luxury goods from Italy and the rest of Europe accessible to Filipino shoppers. The store opened sometime in October with an Italian night-out-inspired party attended by the metro’s most fashionable. With Marian Rivera, Sheila Romero, and Tessa Prieto, among others, cutting the ceremonial ribbon, guests partied the night away, reminiscent of Milan’s fashionable street, with cocktails care of Aperol Spritz.

Corso Como 88 is also the official distributor or Buti Pelleteria in the Philippines. The multi-brand store carries most Italian luxury brands such as Valentino, Etro, Emilio Pucci, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, Gianni Chiarini, GgDB, Buti, Cuoieria Fiorentina, Avenue 67 Milan and European brands like Polene, Goyard, Delvaux, See by Chloe, Demellier, Moreau, Givenchy, Golden Goose, Hermes, Karl Lagerfeld, Miu Miu, Saint Laurent, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tods among others.

The brand started in 2008 when friends of owners Imelda and Valter Sciandra casually requested them to source for luxury products. From then on, the business grew, and Corso Como 88 retail was born. Sourced directly in Italy and the rest of the EU,  the ordered products are guaranteed to have the best price due to fewer intermediary costs.

The brand values Italian craftsmanship and industrial excellence, bringing up-and-coming brands from Italy that characterize mastery of craft and heritage of skills. One such brand is Buti Pelleteria. This Italian brand has been around for 60 years, pouring out time, resources, quality, history and the tradition of manual skills into each uniquely designed bag.
