BEAUTY FIX: Looks Like We Made It!

By BIANCA VALERIO  |

These days, no one can doubt the importance of multi-tasking. In fact, it’s almost expected of everyone that it’s become the norm. However, just because one can juggle tasks like a boss, doesn’t mean that one always looks great while doing them. The term “hot mess” may sound, well, hot, but looking effortless is always the goal. We asked three stunning ladies (all bloggers and multi-taskers) about how they make multi-tasking look good.

“Dressing from day to night is my life!”

Mikaela Lagdameo-Martinez: wife, mom of two, entrepreneur, VIP services manager and blogger (www.MikaelaMartinez.com) on how to dress from day to night:

1. Start with nude lips during the day then go for dark red lips at night: small change, big difference, instantly looking a little more dressed up.

2. For events, I never really have the time to go back home and change after work. So I usually go for a skirt and top, then pair them with flats or sneakers during the day; then switch up to heels at night. Oh what wonders shoes can do!

3. You know what’s funny, I actually change my scent, too! I have my “everyday” perfume, then use stronger, sexier scents at night. Believe it or not, it makes a difference, too!

4. You can’t lug your huge bag around at night. So prepare a clutch for the evening, or if totally unplanned, just grab some cash, your credit card and your phone. That’s all you’ll really need anyway.

5. Sometimes if my hair is down all day, I tie it up into a low bun, mess it up a bit and I already feel totally prepared for the evening. I’ll have to keep saying it again: little things like these really make a difference. Tried and tested.

Balancing Act

Mafae Yunon-Belasco: wife, mom of five, former beauty queen, entrepreneur, tennis coach, talent manager, and blogger (www.mafaebelasco.com) spills the beans on how to find work-life balance.

1. I have a diary or calendar to know where all my family members are at any given time and what they are doing. This also keeps me organized with my work schedule.

2. My faith in God keeps me balanced: I always find time in the day to talk to Him and read my TouchPoints for Women book. This helps especially when my husband or kids have important meetings and exams. I read this before important meetings I have.

3. I keep in touch with strong women who always remind me that I am human: my mom, my children’s godmothers and other mommy friends.

4. Date nights at least once or twice a week with my hubby. I guess that’s what keeps us procreating lives (laughs)! Definitely a must for married couples — quality time for each other.

5. Staying fit and healthy is definitely key to balancing my life. I coach tennis for all age groups. Teaching and sports are my passions. This helps me de-stress along with eating right. Malunggay is my favorite so I drink a special formulation every day that has all the nutrients that I need daily. All natural. Try Malungai Life Oil.

Baby bump, Beauty bump

Cat Arambulo-Antonio: wife, mother of three, interior designer, blogger (www.catarambulo.com) talks about dressing and grooming while pregnant.

1. Early in the pregnancy, when it’s a bulge and not a baby bump, wear clothes that don’t accentuate your belly. I personally prefer high-waisted outfits because it makes my waist look so much smaller than the belly bulge.

2. Wear wedges. On “fat days” I like to look and feel tall. But since not all women can be pregnant and wear heels, I prefer to take the safer route and wear bell-bottom pants with a nice tall wedge.

3. You can still have manicures and have your hair roots dyed. Just make sure it’s organic. Aveda has an amazing selection! Highlights are also another alternative because they don’t touch the scalp. Visit Aveda Salon partners: Basement Salon, Shangri-La and Studio Fix by Alex Carbonell Greenbelt 5.

4. Pregnant women can’t do any skin treatments, or put any chemicals or harsh ingredients that the skin may absorb. I go to The Aivee Institute every week for a cleaning. It definitely controls my hormonal acne.

5. Use toners, moisturizers, sunblock and drink a LOT of water to clear the skin. All my beauty products are from The Aivee Institute because unlike commercially bought products, I’m sure of their content.
