Celebrate Chinese New Year like you used to

With pandemic restrictions all but gone, this year’s Chinese Lunar New Year promises to be a joyful and memorable one. New World Makati, for instance, brings back the traditional dragon and lion dance, as it offers several dining and staycation packages designed to appeal to every member of the family.

Officially kicking off the Chinese New Year festivities is the dragon and lion dance at the driveway and lobby on January 22 at 12:30 p.m. An eye-dotting ceremony followed by the dance and the lions going around the lobby, restaurants, ballroom and public spaces will take place hopefully to attract luck and positive energy throughout the year.

Welcome the Chinese New Year from January 20 to 22, with auspicious room packages. With rates starting at P 8,888, enjoy a stay at its Deluxe Rooms or Residence Club Deluxe Rooms. Package includes a sumptuous breakfast for two, as well as a box of Jasmine’s signature handcrafted round nian gao (tikoy).

Delight friends and loved ones with Jasmine’s best-selling handcrafted nian gao, which come in the koi fish and classic round shapes (priced at P1,188 and P 1,088, respectively). Bulk orders get a 20-percent discount with a minimum of 50 boxes and Club Epicure members receive a 10-percent discount.

Jasmine highlights its premium Chinese cuisine befitting the Lunar New Year celebrations with two set menus offering dishes that signify prosperity, longevity and happiness for the coming year. Set Menu 1 starts with the salmon yu sheng salad, also known as the prosperity salad, followed by braised abalone mushroom in crabmeat broth, wok-fried prawns in black pepper sauce, teamed fish fillet in superior sauce, braised Chinese black mushroom with sea moss and kailan, and Steamed rice with preserved sausage in lotus leaf. The meal ends on a sweet note with hot cream red bean soup and lotus seeds, glutinous rice dumpling with milk chocolate and one box of nian gao.

Set Menu 2 also begins with the Prosperity Salad and features braised assorted seafood in a fish maw broth, Pan-fried tiger prawn in spicy bean sauce, Steamed live garoupa in superior soy sauce, braised dried oyster with sea moss in premium oyster sauce, stir-fried misua in Fujian-style, followed by two desserts, the double boiled white fungus with lotus seeds and steamed piggy buns with milky egg cream. This menu will also include one box of nian gao.

Chef’s Recommendation

An a la carte selection of best-selling items will also be available under the Chef’s Recommendations menu, which comprises the salmon yu sheng salad, braised baby abalone with Chinese mushroom, steamed live garoupa cooked Cantonese-style with shredded pork and black mushroom, braised duck with sea cucumber, wok-fried prawns in X.O chili sauce, stir-fried garoupa fillet with snow peas, stir-fried seafood misua, done Fujian-style, and assorted meat fried rice with Chinese sausage in lotus leaf.

All-you-can-eat dim sum

Jasmine’s sought after all-you-can-eat dim sum will be on offer as well, featuring all of the restaurant’s well-loved dishes such as crispy pork belly, “Har gao” shrimp with bamboo shoot dumpling, “Xiao long bao” Shanghainese pork dumpling, “Siu Mai” pork and crabmeat dumpling, seafood taro puff, barbecued pork pastry puff, and more.

Set Menu 1 is offered at P 10,888 per table of four guests, while Set Menu 2 is offered at P 13,888 net per table of four guests. All-you-can eat dim sum is priced at P 1,688 per person.

Gatherings to welcome the Lunar New Year are also made possible and worry-free with comprehensive celebrations packages that include Chinese banquet menus for 50 guests or more, venue use for five hours, free-flowing iced teas and chilled juices for all guests, five complimentary boxes of nian gao (tikoy), as well as audio and video set up. The celebration package also includes an overnight stay in our Superior Room with breakfast for two persons.
