Makati Shangri-La, the crown jewel in the heart of Makati, continues to inspire hotel guests and the community at large by being a purveyor of elegant lifestyle that can be both relevant and socially responsible.
For the whole month of March, the prestigious hotel expresses its love for country and community through collaborations with local groups that lead meaningful advocacies and promote local, sustainable products both in food and non-food categories.
In partnership with GREAT Women, Makati Shangri-La will celebrate International Women’s Month with a number of activities. The hotel supports women producers through the supply chains of textile and food commodities. Together, the collaboration is a tapestry of efforts from the hotel and partner social enterprise in revitalizing Philippine culture with the following on-ground events:

A Textile Collection Exhibit
Central Lobby Installation / March 1–31
Visitors will be treated to a central lobby textile collection from different cultural weaving communities, as well as women cooperatives. The collection is also a birthing of new expressions by traditional weavers eager to embrace innovations in design, material and motifs. Traditional textiles are revitalized towards contemporary lifestyle use.
FILIPINO AFTERNOON TEA
Featuring sustainable ingredients from women producers of ECHOstore
Lobby Lounge / March 1–31, 3 to 6 PM
Guests can spend a delightful afternoon at the Lobby Lounge enjoying a delectable treat with the special Filipino Afternoon Tea prepared using local and ethically sourced ingredients from the women producers of ECHOStore.
TRUNK SHOW
A lifestyle shop of products by women producers
Makati B Function Room / March 29–31, 9 AM to 8 PM
This trunk show is a special three-day selling event in the Manila Function Room. Aside from lifestyle fashion apparel and accessories by GREAT Women, other products by designers who have collaborated using GREAT Women textiles will also be available for sale.
GREAT WOMEN FASHION SHOW
A collection showcase of contemporary urban wear of handwoven textiles made by community weavers from around the Philippines
Lobby Lounge / March 30, Saturday, 4 PM
Makati Shangri-La, Manila’s Lobby Lounge has pioneered fashion showcases since the 90s. Through this GREAT Women Fashion Show, it features the Panay Hablon and Patadyong, Habi of Camarines Sur and back strap looms textiles from the Bagobo, Tagabawa and Maranoa peoples now transformed to contemporary prints and styles.
