Belo endorser Edward Mendez, after all, is a sight to behold — from his boyishly handsome face and broad shoulders, down to those well-defined pectorals and torso, onto his firm pelvis and massive thighs.
As I marveled and gazed at that robust chest of his in between his outfit changes, the wall between this writer and his subject eventually crumbled, just like how my knees reacted to the sight of such an awesome male specimen.
Meat of the matterÂ
Nowadays, however, this Cancerian looker is occupied with Your Dream Body Come True. Created to be everyone’s “ultimate portable personal trainer/nutritionist,†the fitness book contains tried-and-tested training and diet principles for attaining a dream body.
“Fitness is my passion. I’ve been into it for more than a decade now. I was just very inspired with the many people I’ve seen on magazines who have done a complete makeover transformation with their physique. I thought, maybe, I could do the same.
“Initially, it was very difficult; it took me a while to transform myself because I was doing everything wrong. When I finally got the science right, I decided to help other people for free (during my younger days). I realized that if I want to do this on a long-term basis, then I should write a book about this and share the science to many,†relays the towering hunk.
As the book, published by Sexy Solutions by Belo, reveals, and as Edward personally admits, he amassed a pleasantly plump figure during the latter months of 2009. And by undergoing rigorous gym workouts, coupled with a strict diet regimen and the necessary disciplinary action on reaching his goal, his “revolutionary way to fitness†was just waiting in the wings.
“I personally prepare my meals. I have my protein shakes and take about three of them per day. I go to the gym at night because I get all things out of the way during daytime. My workout time ranges from 35 to 60 minutes. That’s every other day, three times a week.
“My diet, meanwhile, consists of high protein meals. I occasionally eat good carbohydrates (brown rice and whole wheat bread). I don’t have a personal trainer either; I do my trainings on my own,†reveals Edward.
Flesh and fantasy
“I love doing heavy bench press. I also work on my abdominals as part of my lower body routine (or after my aerobic training). Basically, it’s the muscle group I train the least, since I feel that they are already getting sufficient stimulation through the other exercises I perform.
“There are three areas that need to be trained individually in order to have the full development of the abdominals — upper, lower and obliques. The best is to always pick an exercise that would specialize and concentrate on one area while secondarily training the others,†he likewise adds from his book.
With a degree in Sports Science and Sports Medicine from the University of Maryland tucked under his belt, Edward is generous about his knowledge and information about his course. He thus advises that when one starts on his respective Your Dream Body Come True program, one should do it with enthusiasm. “Be excited about it! Don’t ever feel that you’re in the gym because you have no choice. Never lose grasp of those elements and engrave them in your mind. Keep them always in your heart. My vision is to transform every dream body into a reality,†he reminds.
Nipped in the Bod
Ticking the tape at 6’1†and tipping the scales at 182 lbs., Edward wears his shirt large, his underwear medium and his shoes size 12. If the figures do really mean a thing, this writer probes even further.
