And in style at that, as artist Rudy Yu celebrates the diversity and vibrance of the Philippines’ 7,641 islands on an unlikely canvas such as a pair of Tretorn shoes.
Dubbed as “Discoveries,” Yu’s exhibit is ongoing at Galerie Francesca (Festival Mall) and features 14 original artworks that showcase Yu’s signature vibrant and illustrative style. Through his art, he encourages us to go out, explore, make discoveries and forge our own paths. The exhibit is particularly timely as it coincided with Independence Day a few weeks ago, a time when we celebrated our nation’s freedom and diversity.
As part of the exhibit, Yu, together with Galerie Francesca, has collaborated with Tretorn shoes to produce four designs that will be custom hand-painted on your very own pair of Tretorn shoes. The collaboration is a fitting addition to the exhibit, as it encourages visitors to continue their journey of discovery beyond the gallery walls.
As you enter “Discoveries,” you are immediately drawn to the bright and bold colors that Yu uses in his artworks. Moving through the exhibit, you’ll see a range of artworks that depict various locales in the Philippines. Each artwork tells a story of exploration and discovery, with the artists’s signature style. The vivid colors used in the artwork transport you to the lush Philippine countryside and encourage you to explore the many natural wonders of the country.
The artworks serve as a reminder that there is always something new to discover, even in the most familiar of places. The exhibit runs until July 2 at Galerie Francesca, Festival Mall.
