To many, House of Franchise in Shaw Boulevard, Pasig City may just be another business establishment. But to business partners Jonathan So and Carl Macadangdang, it is a testament to their company’s resiliency and their way of honoring the growing number of business partners who have helped their franchising business reach stellar heights.

As many would know, the COVID-19 crisis posed a great number of challenges for businesses and individuals. So and Macadangdang’s brainchild, House of Franchise, was no exemption. Acting swiftly on the emerging situation — and out of concern for their business partners — the young entrepreneurs introduced new business models to help them ride out the storm.

Together with their partners, however, the two quickly learned that not only would they survive the onslaught, they would even thrive in it. House of Franchise does not only carry its flagship brand Siomai King, but also new brands such as Noodle House, Mang Bok’s, Sgt. Sisig, Potato King, Boy Bondat and Burger Factory, as well as transportation and logistics app toktok. Paired with the brands’ boosted online presence, the franchising business soon attracted a great number of Filipinos, who were seeking new sources of income to survive.

Two years later, the COVID-19 crisis seems to be winding down. But not House of Franchise, whose growing number of online and offline partners continue to grow by the day. “Moving to a bigger and bigger office is somehow already a ‘calling’ for us. It’s crucial for us so we could grow even more,” explained House of Franchise and JC co-founder So. “We have to cater to our franchisees because at the end of the day, this is for them.”

And on Sept. 24, House of Franchise — the building — formally opened its doors.

Innovation set in stone

Located at 35 Shaw Boulevard, Brgy. San Antonio, Pasig City, the two-story building now serves as the bigger and better home for the company’s brands and its growing number of franchisees. The opening was attended by over a thousand franchisees who all gladly explored their new headquarters with smiles evident behind their masked faces. “Nakaka-proud sila, ‘no?” So mused with a smile as he saw them flock in the office.

The new headquarters also serves as a one-stop shop for people who are looking for an affordable yet competitive franchise business venture. It features everything that the House of Franchise offers: from a food court-style food cart set-up of the food brands to a toktok franchise showroom. Spacious and neat, with its walls showcasing the company’s history and accolades,

“In our old office, we could only showcase two food carts. We were even limited by the property owner when it comes to cooking,” said Macadangdang, House of Franchise and JC co- founder, adding that it is important for potential franchisees to be able to see and taste the products that they will sell.

Moving forward

“At the end of the day, no matter how small the revenue may be for us, what’s important is that everyone is happy and earning,” said So. And while House of Franchise has definitely delivered on its promise of providing additional revenue streams for its hard-working community of business partners, the two also reveal that they plan to further expand by adding more brands to their portfolio and upgrading their system to make these products and opportunities more accessible.

Carl Macadangdang and Jonathan So

For his part, Macadangdang underscored that innovation has always been a priority in this line of business. He said that they are already in the process of innovating their online system so that their clients can purchase any products anywhere and anytime, and pay using any mode of payment. So also underscored the importance of a business’ legacy, saying that a business should be able to keep up with trends, while also being something that can be passed down from one generation to another, striking a balance between being timely and being timeless.

During the mega opening, So reminded everyone in attendance to be bold in facing life’s adversities. “Don’t be afraid to take a risk now, because time will come and you won’t be able to take a risk anymore because it’s too late,” he said. “You just need to work hard and have the will to earn, and you will prosper,” Macadangdang added.

The House of Franchise office is located at 35 Shaw Boulevard, Brgy. San Antonio, Pasig City  and is open from Monday to Sunday, 9 AM to 10 PM.
