HSBC Philippines and Salcedo Auctions celebrate another year of partnership

HSBC Philippines and Salcedo Auctions recently marked a new milestone as they renewed a partnership which started in 2020. With this, HSBC Philippines’ clients will have continued and direct access to distinct art pieces by world-renowned Filipino artists — starting with the recently launched edition of “The Well-Appointed Life” auction.

As the 2023 exclusive bank partner of Salcedo Auctions, HSBC Philippines enables its clients to enjoy special privileges including “first-to-market” preview access to marquee auctions and exhibitions, as well as a waived P20,000 refundable auction deposit, should they decide to participate online at any of Salcedo Auctions’ sales. Exclusive access keys will be provided by HSBC Philippines via email or SMS.

These benefits will come to good use soon, as this year also marks the second edition of ‘The Well-Appointed Life,’ which is widely regarded as the crème de la crème of Philippine auctions, where exceedingly important pieces such as Juan Luna’s “Boceto for Spoliarium” and Félix Resurrección Hidalgo‘s “La Pintura,” — the most expensive works by both artists to be sold in the Philippines — were previously offered. The partnership also extends to select Salcedo Private View curated exhibition-sales to be held later this month, as well as in June, July, October and November 2023.

“This partnership highlights HSBC’s support towards growth of the rich Philippine arts and culture. Our association with Salcedo Auctions, the country’s leading auction house and a pioneer of the Philippine fine art industry, opens an opportunity for our clients to access well-curated artworks backed by expert advice and a proven track record of Salcedo auctions,” said HSBC Philippines president and CEO Sandeep Uppal.

Amidst the volatility of the post-pandemic economy, art is a unique asset that is resilient to market fluctuations. Art holds its value over time, and apart from the satisfaction of owning something they’re passionate about, art collectors become owners of a diversified portfolio that can be passed down to future generations. The digital age has also attracted more interested audiences to the accessibility of starting their own art collections, as well as learning how to discern the value of art through a trusted source in the market, such as Salcedo Auctions.

“I am delighted to mark the third year of what we see as an enhanced long-term partnership with HSBC Philippines. This collaboration is born out of shared values – a passion for excellence, a sense of responsibility, a dedication to passion, delivering results, and unwavering integrity, and most importantly a broad perspective of the market and financial opportunities that takes the long view,” said Salcedo Auctions chairman and chief specialist Richie Lerma.
