Tarlac First District Rep. Carlos “Charlie” Cojuangco and former Assistant Secretary China Jocson recently announced their formal betrothal at the Josemaria Escriva Shrine in Gerona, Tarlac last Dec. 29.
According to sources, present during the ceremony were their closest family and friends, including prominent political figures from Tarlac, such as Gov. Susan Yap. Some mayors from the province also served as the couple’s witnesses, along with family friends and members of the entourage. Also in attendance were Charlie’s brother Mark Cojuangco; and his son, Jaime.
The betrothal, according to Cannon Law, is an essential step in a Catholic Engagement, and was done in preparation for a church wedding.
To ensure the safety of guests, and in line with new normal practices, Dr. Tuquero of Moncada, Tarlac, and a team of medical technicians conducted antigen swab tests before the celebration. All attendees tested negative. Hospital-grade air disinfection was also conducted to ensure the safety of guests.
China Jocson is the former assistant to former Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella. Charlie, on the other hand, is a widower, who has been single since the death of his first wife Rio Diaz-Cojuangco in 2004.
The couple are expected to tie the knot in a grand celebration in 2021.
