Leon Exchange’s 11th edition set on April 13 and 14

Leon Exchange’s 11th edition gives not a few people the chance to fill their lives with works of art, antiques and objects of style.  All you have to do is go to www.LeonExchange.com and register to enable you to place bids on items that resonate with you.

As in previous editions of Leon Exchange, or its online auction, León Gallery will provide collectors and first-time buyers with an impressive variety of lots that can be purchased online.

There’s a handsome rocking chair made from narra and inlaid with bone that once belonged to Chona Recto-Kasten. Often considered the Philippines’ ultimate society darling, Kasten was born during a time when elegance and sophistication were standard.

Estate jewelry is also included in the upcoming online auction, including the famed “The Rose Litton Necklace” by the New York jeweler Harry Winston. It was once owned by its namesake, the legendary wife of industrialist George Litton.

Other jewels up for auction are a heart-shaped pendant set with a heart-shaped yellowish diamond weighing 3.82 carats and mounted with brilliant cut diamonds in gold. There’s an antique Spanish coin bracelet, 1868 Isabel “Reina de las Filipinas” with 10 coins in 18k gold with a total weight of 40 grams.

Other objects of interest are Lladro vases, sterling silver containers, blue and white Ming dynasty plates, an antique wooden statue of a Burmese goddess, bronze and silver Buddhas from Nepal and an antique silver chalice with its original wooden box casing.

There are also several noteworthy paintings to hang on your walls, including an immaculate piece of work from Araceli Dans, “Dakilang Rosal” that will surely attract collectors of fine Filipino art, National Artist Arturo Luz’s “Anito” wood sculpture and Ramon Orlina’s glass sculpture. Paintings from Juvenal Sansó (“Before the Dawn”), Manuel Rodriguez Sr. (“Flowers on May”), Antonio Dumlao (“Batis”), and an untitled abstract work by Federico Aguilar Alcuaz are likewise among the featured works.

There are also several fish paintings from foreign artists. Ting Ying Wei’s works, “Tile Fish 1 and 2” (1965), are from China where he received his art education and taught art before moving to Hong Kong. He illustrated the only book on Hong Kong fishes for the government of Hong Kong.

Jay Maclean has been painting underwater coral reef scenes and fishes in the Philippines in oils and acrylics. He has two works up for auction, “Undecided” (2018) and “Coralscape” (2013).
