“Lupang Hinirang” played twice at US Marine Barracks to honor country and PH ambassador

According to Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez, it was the first time that a foreign flag was presented by a US Marine color guard, making the event a historic one as well as an affirmation of the deep ties that bind the Philippines and the US.

The Philippines was honored by being the very first foreign flag presented by a US Marine color guard during the Marine Barracks Evening Parade on August 9 in Washington D.C. The Marine Band also performed the Philippine national anthem twice, for the foreign colors and as musical honors for Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez.

“We have made many historic achievements in a short period of time, but suffice it to say that our relations have reached a level of maturity and modernity and have become even more relevant to the lives of both our peoples.” said Ambassador Romualdez.
