Makati Medical Center (MMC) recently announced that it has already discharged 29 patients who have recovered and tested negative of COVID-19. In the same DZMM interview quoted by The Philippine STAR,  MMC medical director Saturnino Javier, also stated that this marks 28 percent of the 103 COVID-19 cases that are being treated within the facility as of March 31.

As expected, MMC’s impressive success rate in battling the virus has attracted praise from members of the medical community, both locally and abroad. One of them is Dr. Andrew Saul, a specialist in natural healing.

In a video clip forwarded to PeopleAsia by lawyer and MVP Group media bureau chief Mike Toledo, Saul praised the MMC for “a job well done.” The doctor also posted on his Facebook page an impressive pie chart illustrating that 81 percent of successful recoveries in the Philippines were actually treated  at the MMC.

“At the Makati Medical Center in Manila, one of the most prominent hospitals in the Philippines, they are using normal therapy, and they are also giving Zinc and vitamin C. Other hospitals have 19 percent success and discharge rate, and they [MMC] have an 81 percent discharge rate, which is actually pretty good,” says Andrew during a webinar. “So they’re doing four times better by giving an unspecified amount of zinc and an unspecified amount of vitamin C.”

As of this writing, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the Philippines stands at 2,311, with 50 patients having recovered from the disease reported today.
