Making her mark

As CEO of two companies that have introduced some of the most advanced and cutting-edge machines, cosmeceuticals and “dermocosmetics” to the Philippines, Nikki Tang remains bullish about the beauty business—even during times of uncertainty.

Like most companies, DMark Beauty and DermAsia Corp. initially felt the pandemic’s disruptive effects on the bottom line. Still, both companies were able to quickly pivot and bounce back for a number of good reasons. First, Nikki believes that consumers continue to find comfort in simple pleasures derived from self-care. “Unlike before, taking care of one’s self, both inside and out, is no longer viewed as vanity,” she says. “It’s now viewed as a form of self-love, which is essential in boosting a person’s confidence, self-esteem and overall wellbeing — enabling her to give more of herself to others. And such an attitude transcends gender, race and religion.”

Secondly, Nikki credits her team, whose work ethic, professionalism and adaptability have helped her companies weather the storm. Trusted by medical professionals and consumers all over the country, DMark Beauty is the market leader in the distribution of effective anti-aging skincare and minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatments in the Philippines. Their products are available nationwide in dermatology clinics, aesthetic centers, beauty and personal care stores, and e-commerce sites. With their omnichannel marketing efforts, they aim to create meaningful connection and engagement with their customers.

Guided by strong family business values, Nikki shares that DMark Beauty and DermAsia’s core values and commitment to providing advanced skincare for the face, hair and body will never falter. To continue offering innovative products that are relevant to the market, members of the team constantly find ways to deepen their relationship with clients, so that they may understand their challenges and needs firsthand.

“As for our partner doctors, we’ve been very visible all this time. We make them feel that we’ve stayed connected. We also make sure to consistently provide them with regular updates and support through continuous medical education, and they value that,” Nikki adds.

Last but not the least, DMark Beauty and DermAsia remained undeterred, as both companies launched a number of new products and anti-aging technologies to keep their partner doctors and the market excited in the last couple of years.

“There’s a lot to be optimistic about,” says Nikki. “Employees and customers who’ve been with us for years inspire me to keep on moving forward. Being instrumental in the success of our partner doctors who’ve made a difference in the lives of countless Filipinos adds meaning to what I do. And the thought that the concept of beauty has changed over the decades excites me no end. Beauty brings power to a person not only to look better, but to do better and be better.”

As one of the country’s foremost “beautypreneurs,” Nikki has also pioneered in the introduction in the Philippines of some of the latest and most cutting-edge beauty machines and products from various countries.

Sustainable growth

Formed in 1998, DMark Beauty is the country’s most comprehensive source of many of the world’s leading cosmeceutical and “dermocosmetic” brands. These include popular over-the-counter products from Sebamed, Puressentiel and Bioderma, which are all readily available in leading pharmacies and beauty retail outlets nationwide; and dermatologist-dispensed brands such as Neostrata, Heliocare, Endocare, Teoxane, Regenera, Glowbiotics and Iraltone, among others.

Reputable skin clinics and aesthetic centers also rely on DMark Beauty for their supply of fillers and more scientifically advanced skincare products. These include formulations that deal with pathological skin, hair, nail and scalp problems, among other things.

“DMark Beauty has been around for more than 20 years,” says Nikki, who comes from a family of entrepreneurs. As DMark Beauty continued to expand, the business eventually ventured into medical aesthetic devices for the face, body and overall anti-aging wellness.

DermAsia Corp., on the other hand, was established in 2004. It has since become the leading distributor of medical aesthetic and beauty devices used by the country’s top dermatologists, aesthetic centers, medical spas and hospitals.

Driven by their passion for advanced technology in medical aesthetics, Nikki and her brother, managing director Charles Mandy, have grown DermAsia into one of the most trusted names for medical and aesthetic professionals in the country.

Over the years, Nikki, through DermAsia, has also introduced revolutionary beauty-enhancing devices that have greatly minimized the need for more invasive procedures. Proving that they do, indeed, work, globally renowned lasers, radiofrequency and ultrasound devices such as GeneoUltra, Alma Q, PiQo4, SygmaLift and Robotic Lift, to name a few, have become household names among the country’s skincare professionals.

“When it comes to introducing and selling anti-aging devices, we’re very innovative,” Nikki declares. “I attribute our significant market share to our ability to work closely with many of the country’s leading dermatologists and aesthetic centers.”

Backed by science

Long before she became a beautypreneur (an entrepreneur in the beauty business), Nikki has always been fascinated with the concept of beauty. Women in their family, according to her, take the basics of skincare wellness seriously —from cleansing, moisturizing and photoprotection, to adequate sleep and proper diet.

More than beauty rituals and regimens though, Nikki’s interest in keeping one’s skin young, smooth and healthy extends well into the realm of science. This natural curiosity helps her navigate the beauty industry, which also has its fair share of false claims and advertising. “My brother and I do the research to find out which machines and products to carry,” she says. “We also make it a point to consult with our partners, who are key opinion leaders and practitioners here and abroad.”

Nikki, whose radiant, blemish-free complexion and positive disposition are living proof of what she espouses, also advocates for beauty and wellness. It drives her to always strive for excellence and to reach for greater heights. As a result, DMark Beauty has built a leading position in the aesthetic beauty market based on a culture of innovation, quality, excellence and integrity.

Passionate, driven and backed by science, Nikki Tang makes her mark in the beauty industry. And not even a pandemic can stop her from doing so. “Our customers can expect more cutting-edge products coming their way in 2021 and beyond. Together with our doctors, we will discover new products and educate the market when it comes to personal care, prevention, protection and more. The best is yet to come.” she concludes.
