Manila welcomes its first COS store

COS, the global fast fashion brand with Swedish roots, recently opened its first store in the country. And just in time, as travel abroad even to nearby shopping haunts like Hong Kong and Singapore, where COS has already established a presence, remains difficult because of the pandemic.

The store is located on the Upper Ground Floor of SM Aura Premier. This development also reaffirms the high-end mall’s position as a fashion destination where you can find some of the best and most sought-after global brands without having to leave the country.

The 380-sq m store is designed with sustainability and the brand’s minimalist aesthetics in mind. Key design elements include an arched doorway, which opens up into an airy space bathed in natural sunlight and where clean architectural lines are juxtaposed with innovative materials to create interiors that feel modern without appearing cold.

The textured cladding material extending across the staggered walls was constructed using “Really,” an engineered material developed using up-cycled textiles such as end-of-life cotton and wool.

Housing both women’s and men’s collections, the store debuts with the brand’s Summer 2021 collection, featuring a series of wardrobe icons inspired by the renewal of the seasons and the brand’s optimism for the future.

Designed for warmer weather, the pieces remain versatile and timeless. And as a reflection of the brand’s commitment to sourcing quality materials that limit the impact on the planet, certain styles use linen and hemp for their durability and sustainability.

At the same time, such material combinations appear weightless, promoting movement and fluid draping. Repurposed materials are also found in this season’s swimwear, which makes use of recycled nylon.

To celebrate the opening of the COS SM Aura Premier store, a limited-edition repurposed-cotton tote bag will be given for fee to a limited number of customers who make at least P10,000 worth of purchases.
