The nationwide celebration, ongoing until the end of February, offers something for arts and culture enthusiasts in the field of visual arts, music, film, dance and literature, among others. Organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, National Arts Month has so far spawned numerous and sometimes simultaneous art fairs, music festivals and arts-related workshops in various towns and cities.
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts invites the public to participate in the ongoing nationwide celebration of National Arts Month happening in different parts of the country this February.
February was declared the National Arts Month with the signing of Presidential Proclamation 683 by then President Corazon C. Aquino in 1991.
Arts and culture enthusiasts are in for a treat both for the mind and the senses: from film education lectures to theater and literary workshops, from a National Tiktok Dance Challenge to musical performances, the series of activities aims to showcase the richness of classic and contemporary Filipino culture from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. All events are free and open to the public.
With the theme “Ani ng Sining: Diwa at Damdamin” (Harvest of the Arts: Soul and Passion), this month-long art fair celebrates the creativity of a nation that springs from the spirit and passion of its people. “Diwa” is a Filipino word for spirit, essence, soul, and “damdamin” captures the emotions and passion that drive artistic creation and expression. A sampling of what’s in store for you for the rest of the month:
