NCT DoJaeJung, a sub-unit of K-Pop boy group NCT, sat with journalists during a media conference held last Sunday afternoon at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati. The trio, consisting of Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo, gamely answered questions and flaunted their boyish charms to the crowd.
For Jaehyun, one of the most memorable moments that make him want to keep coming back to the country was meeting and connecting with fans.
“This moment is definitely one of the [most special] memories that we’d like to come back to,” Jaehyun, whose dimple showed as he spoke, said in English. “With all the energy we are receiving right now, it’s such an honor [to be here],” he added. Their fans, dubbed NCTzens or Czennies, responded to Jaehyun’s heartwarming answer with roaring cheers and squeals.
Jungwoo, on the other hand, said that he was really happy to meet their Filipino Czennies, because of how warmly they welcomed the boys.
“I really felt the warmth of the people here. I think this is the reason why it allows me and NCT to keep coming back to the Philippines,” Jungwoo said through an interpreter. “I really appreciate this opportunity to be able to come back and see you once again.”
“You guys make [us] come back,” Doyoung said in English, also thanking their fans.
Truly, Filipino fans are one-of-a-kind. Their energy was contagious and uncontainable. An hour before the conference proper, for instance, they were already passionately singing along to DoJaeJung’s debut song, “Perfume,” which was playing through the speakers. They were holding banners bearing their message for DoJaeJung: “Let’s be together for a long time and leave each other a scent full of memories.” A few minutes before the boys stepped on stage, they started chanting the members’ names, as if willing them to come. The screams were deafening, a sure sign of their love and appreciation for the boys.
NCT DoJaeJung recently held a sold-out fan concert titled, “Scented Symphony: Perfume,” at the SM Mall of Asia-Arena last Saturday. They performed tracks from their debut album “Perfume,” enchanting thousands of fans with their electrifying choreography and catchy melodies.
While it was their first time to visit the country as a sub-unit, it wasn’t the members’ first time to experience the warmth of Filipino Czennies. In fact, Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo, together with other NCT 127 members, were previously in Manila last September 2022 for their “NEO CITY: THE LINK” concert.
During the media conference, the trio also serenaded the crowd, as they sang an acapella snippet of their song “Kiss,” which they dedicated to their Filipino Czennies.
Asked what Filipino food they’d like to try, Jaehyun happily chirped, “halo-halo!” He also added the Filipino favorite lechon to the list of must-try local food.
Before exiting the stage, the boys’ final message doubled as a promise to return and meet with their fans again.
“Mahal kita,” Jaehyun said on the mic, earning screams from the crowd. “Hope to see you soon again,” the dimpled idol added, before waving goodbye to the fans.
