With almost no makeup on, a fresh-faced Ellen Adarna wowed the small crowd at Blackbird in Makati City recently, when she was introduced as Ultherapy Philippines’ brand ambassador for its ‘No Bad Takes’ campaign.

“I have no foundation on, just my concealer, lip tint and kilay [eyebrows]… Just a very ‘lazy, low maintenance’ skincare makeup routine,” said Ellen Adarna, when quizzed by event host Janeena Chan about her look for the evening.

The actress and mother, who is married to fellow actor Derek Ramsay, also shared that she was pleasantly surprised when she was tapped for the campaign. “I never expected that Ultherapy would get me, because before, I was just a customer. We did the shoot last September but I couldn’t say, ‘guys, ako na.’  And now I’m here and I’m so happy,” she said.

Ellen also admitted that Ultherapy aside, her beauty now comes from a deeper, more meaningful place. “Having a son taught me to take care of myself. If I don’t take care of myself, how would I be capable of taking care of my son?” she added. “Elias is turning five this June. When I had him, my priorities changed. That’s why I learned that I really have to take care of myself so I could be the best version of myself for my son.”

Of course, the question on everyone’s mind was, does Ellen Adarna actually need Ultherapy? The answer, apparently, is a resounding yes!

Ellen has #NoBadtakes

The 35 year-old beauty gamely admitted that she, too has her fair share of insecurities. “I’m only human. I’m not going to lie that I’m a hundred percent confident. But I know my weaknesses and insecurities, and I have a mentor who guides me through these. I work on them. There’s always something to improve internally. Externally, with the help of science, technology and Ultherapy, I go for it! That’s the complete package,” she revealed.

Sam Gallardo, senior brand manager of Merz Aesthetics Philippines — exclusive distributor of Ultherapy in the Philippines — also explained why the treatment is considered the gold standard in non-surgical tightening and lifting. “We have three depths, which is unique to Ultherapy. Our transducers are set at 1.5, 3 and 4.5. Basically, those three depths target different lifting and tightening properties in your skin,” she said of the technology, which uses micro-focused ultrasound with visualization (MFU-V) technology.

The transducers, according to Gallardo sees through the layers of one’s skin and delivers the precise amount of energy to trigger collagen production in areas that need it the most.  “That’s why in two or three months, your skin will brighten and get tighter,” she added.

And while science is there to help, it’s ultimately one’s personal decision that can help turn back the clock. “Just take action and do something about it. When I look at myself in the mirror and see, oh my god, I’m aging—I can’t stop it. Okay, I see some stuff here and there—okay, let’s do something about it. Right?” asked Ellen.

Well, one look at her and you know that she definitely isn’t wrong.
