One of the country’s most iconic hotel lobbies reopens

After an eight-month hiatus, The Peninsula Manila Lobby starts welcoming guests, old and new, to once more relive memories and make new ones.

Like all major hospitality establishments in the country, The Peninsula Manila, after more than 40 years in the business, was forced to close its doors since the start of the pandemic in mid-March. All that is slowly becoming a thing of the past, as the iconic hotel slowly reopens its doors to the public, starting with one of the the country’s most famous and most iconic gathering places—The Peninsula Manila’s Lobby.

After a near eight-month hiatus, The Lobby is now welcoming its first guests, as The Peninsula Manila gears up to spread love all over again through its “Peninsula Love” campaign.

To officially mark the hotel’s partial reopening as well as usher in an early start of the Christmas season, no less than Department of Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat graced the hotel’s recent traditional annual Christmas tree lighting event. On hand to welcome her was The Peninsula Manila general manager Masahisa Oba.

The Peninsula Manila is also deeply committed to supporting Metro Manila, a place it has called home for 44 years now. In these challenging times, the hotel joins hands with guests to express love and care to the people of the mega city who are most in need.

A primary pillar of The Peninsula Manila “Peninsula Love” campaign is a charitable meal donation program. This unique initiative will assist vulnerable and underserved communities severely impacted by the current crisis.

For every arroz caldo or pancit luglug meal purchased at The Lobby until the end of the year, The Peninsula Manila will “Spread Love” with its one-for-one meal donation to communities in need. The program is being managed in partnership with Rise Against Hunger, a food bank that directly supports vulnerable communities in the cities of Caloocan, Muntinlupa and Taguig.

As The Lobby reawakens, The Peninsula Manila is also inviting guests and patrons to show some “Peninsula Love” by participating in an interactive campaign on the @ThePeninsulaManila Instagram and Facebook feeds.

The Lobby is now open to serve guests

“On 14 September, 2020, we celebrated the hotel’s 44th anniversary, and if you were to ask anyone in the city what to them is the most iconic space of the hotel, they would all agree that it’s The Lobby,” says Oba. “Our Lobby has hosted countless visitors, ranging from newlyweds, couples, families, local celebrities, Hollywood elite and musicians, to heads of state and crowned heads, celebrating many momentous events in their lives throughout our 44-year history. They have also played a significant role in celebrating the culture of the city and enriching the lives of its residents. The Lobby’s ‘Peninsula Love’ campaign is our way of giving back to our community that has stood by our side all this time.”

Over a four-week period from November 2 to 30, the iconic Lobby will run the #PeninsulaLove contest on its @ThePeninsulaManila Instagram and Facebook feeds.

The program is a gesture of solidarity to medical frontline workers who have been dedicating themselves every day to deliver basic services throughout Metro Manila and the provinces. On Week One (November 2 to 8), The Peninsula Manila will select one nominated medical frontliner to enjoy a Peninsula #PeninsulaLove Cake that can be collected from The Peninsula Boutique.
