PeopleAsia’s milestone 20th Anniversary Awards Night & Musicale continues to soar at the The 18th Philippine Quill Virtual Awards.
For the sixth year in a row, PeopleAsia bagged yet another Excellence Award from the International Association of Business Communicators Philippines (IABC Philippines) at the recently concluded ARISE: The 18th Philippine Quill Virtual Awards. The recognition is given to professional and student communicators, who exemplify the Quills’ global standards of excellent, effective and purposeful business communication.
This year, PeopleAsia won for its highly successful “Soaring 20s: The ‘People of the Year’ 2020 Awards Night & Musicale.”
Staged at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila on Feb. 20, 2020, the glitzy affair honored “People of the Year” awardees such as business tycoon Andrew Tan, Sen. Sonny Angara, box office queen Kathryn Bernardo, construction magnate Alice Eduardo, and musical artists Gary Valenciano and Lea Salonga, to name a few. Also honored were Max Soliven Lifetime Achievement Awardee (posthumous) Betty Go Belmonte, the founding chairman of the Philippine STAR and its charity arm Operation Damayan; and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, who took home the People’s Choice Award.
To celebrate the magazine’s milestone 20th anniversary, PeopleAsia, along with its events partner Theme Works, also came up with a series of musical numbers starring Jon Joven and Yanah Laurel, as well as former “People of the Year” awardee Kuh Ledesma.
The night ended with an electrifying song and dance number from “People of the Year 2020” awardee Gary Valenciano, causing the well-heeled crowd – consisting of businessmen, politicians, diplomats and industry leaders – to get on their feet and start dancing to the tune of “Hataw Na!” and more.
Jeff Tarayao, Chairman of the 18th Philippine Quill Awards and President of One Meralco Foundation says that this year’s entries “are proof of the resilience of our people, and of the students and professional communicators who created narratives and campaigns that continue to help us bravely navigate the challenges of the pandemic, unprecedented in its impact, but which – as the Quill entries have shown, brought out the best in us!”
