PeopleAsia has set the stage to honor its “Men Who Matter” and “Women of Style & Substance” awardees on Monday, Nov. 23, at six in the evening, through a virtual awards night that will be streamed to the public via its Facebook page.
More than 20 men and women from business, public service, entertainment and the medical field are expected to receive their awards.
Leading the “Men Who Matter” list is San Miguel Corp. president and COO Ramon S. Ang, whose 130-year old company’s COVID-19 response initiatives have amounted to P 13.09 billion as of end-May.
Also being recognized as a special awardee is the MVP Group, led by its chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan. The MVP Group, through companies such as Metro Pacific Investments Corp., PLDT Smart, Philex Mining and Meralco, among others, has mobilized and distributed almost P 200 million worth of support, early in the fight against the pandemic. Atty. Mike Toledo, the MVP Group’s media bureau managing director, will receive the award.
Meanwhile, movie and TV star Marian Rivera Dantes will also be recognized, not just for her achievements as a celebrity, but for her advocacy work, wherein she personally cooks and prepares hot meals for hundreds of frontliners on a regular basis. CNN Philippines’ Pinky Webb, a veteran broadcaster who believes in reporting with fairness, accuracy and truth, will also be present.
Also expected to attend are “Women of Style & Substance” awardees, beauty queen Michele Gumabao, Trade Undersecretary Ruth Castelo, BPI’s Marie Josephine Ocampo, fashion designer Ica Serafica, Beautéderm’s Rhea Tan, entrepreneur Grace Barbers-Baja, iFranchise’s Krizzia Ann Loyang Tanabe and San Manuel Tarlac Mayor Donya Tesoro.
As for the “Men Who Matter,” Ang will be joined by Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, SM Supermalls president Steven Tan, St. Luke’s president and CEO Dr. Arturo dela Peña, fashion designer Michael Leyva, Accenture Philippines country managing director Lito Tayag, Buskowitz group founder and CEO James Buskowitz, Kawit Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo, MAV Furniture and Bernhardt’s Eric Po, businessman and Habitat for Humanity volunteer Brian Poe Llamanzares, and MEGA Global CEO William Tiu-Lim.
Aside from the awardees, Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez, PeopleAsia’s publisher, president and CEO (on leave) will also deliver a speech during the event; while concert queen Pops Fernandez will render a riveting number for the audience, with music from the Marcy David Band. The event will be hosted by Bianca Valerio.
