Filipino glass artist embraces body’s ‘earthly associations’ in “Par Excellence”

Marge Organo launches her newest exhibit titled “Par Excellence” at Galerie Joaquin. Through this 32-piece exhibit, Organo showcases her skill and craftsmanship in glass art by delivering a personal message of celebrating life and appreciating the splendor it has to offer.

Just who is Marge Organo? Highly renowned for her artistry in glass-making, this artist, who originally hails from Ilocos Sur, started her journey when she was awarded a scholarship in her second year of study at the prestigious Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. She was later accepted into the Kamenicky Senov, the oldest glass-making school in the world located in the Czech Republic.

Her body of work showcases a deeply personal reverence for family, important life events and emotions. With glass as her medium, the sculptures she produces deliver two contrasting ideas that surprisingly work in harmony. In this case, the use of strong imagery is balanced out by the delicate and graceful sheen of the glass medium. The ideas that are intertwined within Organo’s pieces deliver images, which can be recognized universally, albeit shown through her own perspective, giving the art its own voice and representation within the world of symbols and myths.

If you go through her current exhibit, most of her sculptures exude a sense of familiarity, including images of the Sto. Nino as well as images with distinct shapes that form either a representation of the human being or a mythical creature. Displaying a surprising depth in range, her other sculptures display the artist’s rendition of what emotions are supposed to look like in its purest form.

Marge Organo: Par Excellence will run from May 17 to 26, with the Artists’ Reception on May 17 at 5 p.m. The gallery is located at R3 Level, Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center, Makati. For inquiries, contact Galerie Joaquin at +63 915 414 5502 or email galeriejoaquinrockwell@gmail.com.
