Revisiting Hong Kong with a fresh pair of eyes

The holiday destination, which remains near and dear to many Filipinos, opens up again to the world, showcasing new and Instagram-worthy attractions, both indoor and outdoor, that you probably never even knew existed before.

As Hong Kong celebrates the the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) this October, the territory, which still holds a special place in many Filipinos hearts for being one of the first places they’ve visited abroad, is also rolling out the red carpet for visitors with the lifting of compulsory quarantine requirements for overseas visitors. This welcome development was announced recently by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO Jakarta) during the Marvels in Hong Kong media event at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

In fact, Hong Kong’s lifting of quarantine requirements for overseas visitors has been in effect since late September. Apart from announcing a series of “mega events” in the pipeline, HKETO Jakarta showcased Hong Kong’s latest developments in areas such as arts, culture and tourism to the Philippine community. Special guests Isabel Daza-Semblat and Richard Juan, who, for a time, both called Hong Kong their second home, graced the press event to talk about the Hong Kong not too many people know, including its rich arts and cultural oasis, outdoor parks and outlying islands.

Speaking at the event, the Regional Director of Southeast Asia of the HKTB, Raymond Chan, said that Hong Kong has always been close to the hearts of Philippine travelers, and it is one of the most popular travel destinations for them. With the new infrastructure development and experiences in Hong Kong, the city is eager to welcome Filipino travelers back to Hong Kong to experience the new tourism offerings.
