Rockbird Media acquires global management consultancy’s APAC operations

Events management firm Rockbird Media recently acquired the Asia-Pacific operations of London-based management consultancy Proventa International.

Proventa International, a top provider of strategy meetings for business-to-business (B2B) companies in Europe, the United States and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions, was founded in 2013 by colleagues Louis Smikle and Leo Empuerto in London, and eventually expanded to Florida and Manila. In APAC, Proventa International mounts “Human Resources Leaders” and “Digital Transformation” strategy meetings, which will now be continued by Rockbird Media.

With the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) sector being a priority program of the Department of Tourism (DOT), Rockbird Media founder and CEO Leo Empuerto said that now is the best time to ramp up its services in the Philippines and its neighboring countries.

“We wanted to have full control over the APAC market,” said Empuerto. “There is a lot to innovate within the MICE sector that would breed multiple revenues, not just for my company but for the whole region.”

Rockbird Media will continue to host B2B corporate meetings, dinners and events, as well as provide business development consultancy. It will also be adding business-to-consumer (B2C) services such as social events, specialized outsourcing and other à-la-carte services. This includes meetings for cybersecurity and information security decision-makers in the country and various specialized training programs across industries.

A benefit music festival for the 50th anniversary of Tahanan Outreach Projects Services, Inc. (TOPS), a nonprofit organization promoting youth education, is in the works, as well.

“When I co-founded Proventa, I’ve always had a vision to transform the events industry, to do something that hasn’t been done before,” Empuerto shared. “Now, we are thrilled to provide the best client experience in both B2B and B2C events spaces.”
