SINAG Award honors Pinky Tobiano-led association

The Association of Veterinary and Agri-Quality Assurance Laboratories of the Philippines, Inc., or AVACAL, has a direct hand in ensuring food security and quality assurance for the country’s livestock.

AVAQAL, under chemist Pinky Tobiano’s leadership, recently received an agriculture award from SINAG (Samahang Industriya ng Agricultura). The association was lauded for its unwavering support and tireless advocacy for the interest of the country’s farmers who, in turn, are responsible for feeding the nation and helping the economy grow via the agriculture sector.

The award was given out on the 12th anniversary of SINAG, which embraced the theme “Pag-gawad at Pagkilala sa mga Tanglaw ng Kanayunan Sinag ng Kinabukasan,” in Quezon City.

Tobiano emphasized AVAQAL’s commitment to elevating quality assurance standards in the agricultural sector.

AVAQAL was recognized for its contribution to the agriculture industry by providing accurate and precise laboratory test results of agricultural raw materials, grains, crops, feeds, veterinary drugs and feed supplements.

Through Tobiano’s leadership marked by her passion, dedication and commitment to Philippine agriculture, AVAQAL has transformed itself from a national body to a world-class organization.

The event brought together industry leaders, government officials and distinguished professionals to celebrate excellence and innovation in agriculture and science.

A chemist by profession for 37 years now, Tobiano is the president of AVAQAL, whose members represent agriculture quality assurance laboratories of various companies and third party testing laboratories, including SGS (Societé Generale de Surveillance), Qualibet Bureau Veritas, Intertek, Vitarich. Pilmico, Unahco, San Miguel Foods Inc, Progressive Laboratories, Lak Pue Drugs and Arvet Chem, among others.
