SM celebrates Filipino culture and creativity this festive season

SM Aura ushered in the holiday season with its annual Christmas tree-lighting celebration, ‘Sinag at Saya’, a grand Christmas spectacle showcasing the best of Filipino culture, couture and creativity.

Leading the colorful festivities were Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano and SM Supermalls President Steven Tan, together with assistant vice president for tenant marketing and special events Hanna Carinna Sy and executive vice president for marketing Joaquin San Agustin.

“As we light this tree, let it remind us of our commitment to preserve our cultural legacy and uplift our artisans and MSMEs”, SM Supermalls president Steven Tan said.

This year’s celebration aims to showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship through the mall’s stunning décor. This includes a 33-foot Christmas tree centerpiece adorned with sustainable and indigenous materials representing weaving communities from the Binakul of La Paz in Abra to the Inabel of La Union.

Following the tree lighting ceremony was a fashion show headlined by acclaimed designer Carl Jan Cruz and graced by local fashion brands housed in SM Aura. These include Rhett Eala, Jor-el Espina, Hannah Kong, K & Company, Vin Orias Manila, Yoya, Kultura, Frankie General Store, and Plains and Prints; and jewelry and accessories from Jewelmer, Zarah Juan and Arnel Papa,
