Sun Life goes beyond insurance to offer Filipinos a diverse range of investment products

Risk-averse Filipinos have always chosen the conservative option of saving their hard-earned money. Sun Life hopes to change this mindset.

Sun Life Investment Management and Trust Corporation (SLIMTC) celebrates its fourth anniversary by launching a suite of investment products that are designed to help Filipinos move beyond saving and diversify their portfolio.

Its newest offerings include the Investment Management Account, Corporate Trust Account, Retirement Fund Account and Pre-Need Account. Filipinos can also explore Unit Investment Trust Funds or UITFs—which include the money market fund, medium-term fixed income, long-term fixed income, local equity index fund and the active global fixed income fund—for as little as P 5,000.

SLIMTC President Michael Enriquez made the exciting announcement in a recent press briefing. “Right now, we will expand the target market…to [include] the ordinary individual. By April, we will be launching our retail platform,” he said.

“These UITFs are now democratizing your opportunity to invest as little as P 5,000. I think it’s high time for retail investors to consider trying out investing in UITFs, starting with the very basic money market funds. And once they become comfortable, they can venture into the more sophisticated, higher-risk equities, fixed income, or even balanced funds. There’s really a whole suite of products out there where you should not be beholden by just savings account,” he added.

Named as one of the top investment houses by Singapore-based Asset Benchmark Research Awards, SLIMTC is backed by its in-house expertise in finance and macroeconomics. First-time investors can rest assured that Sun Life Investment Management’s seasoned investment professionals will help them grow their financial assets. Enriquez shared that “we have research analysts not just here in the Philippines…but expertise from North America, Toronto, Boston, Hong Kong and other neighboring Asian countries.”

With more investment products and a digital platform on the horizon, Sun Life Investment Management is poised to make a mark beyond its solid track record in insurance.
