Tajima recently unveiled its first flagship store in the Philippines at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City. The spacious showroom is a gorgeous display of various flooring designs and technologies that can give traditional flooring materials a run for their money. Originating from Japan, these colorful flooring solutions aren’t just beautiful to look at, they’re also quite easy to install.

The company takes pride in offering a vast selection of highly durable products to meet its customers’ varying needs, whether it’s anti-slip, and anti-static flooring, or flame-retardant carpet tiles for general use, to more specialized designs such as anti- bacterial and anti-chemical flooring used in hospitals, clinics, and laboratories, and foam-backed tiles for sports facilities and gyms. The brand has also gained a reputation for producing luxury vinyl flooring designed to resemble natural materials like wood and stone. It also manufactures and distributes homogeneous and heterogeneous tiles for indoor and outdoor parts of the home.

According to Yoshio Kotake, executive vice president of Tajima Roofing Inc., “Tajima is known for practical, useful and beautiful flooring solutions that can be used for the home.” The Japanese executive also noted that Filipinos will most likely enjoy certain designs that Tajima has created.

Among their most promising are the ‘Wood Line’ designs. Also popular in Japan, these flooring materials duplicate the look and texture of wooden flooring, without having to use real wood. So realistic are the designs that some even give off that patinated finish for a more rustic look. They also come in a variety of thicknesses and sizes, which add flexibility to the material. Thanks to years of research and technological advancements, these flooring solutions don’t expand and require less maintenance as compared to real wood.

For those of a more exciting taste, Tajima also offers more exciting flooring materials. Among them is a denim line, which was quite a hit in Japan. The flooring material, which looks like real denim “fades gradually over time, replicating the experience of how denim looks better when worn,” says Yoshio.
