Dressed simply yet elegantly, Tamara Comolli smiles with radiance as she enters the room for my one-on-one interview with her. She greets me with a warm kiss on the cheek. Starting the conversation, she talks to me about her jewelry line that is carried by Rustan’s in the Philippines, and her amazement of the Filipino’s reciprocity towards her and her line.
Unknown to many, she takes inspirations from her travels. But in the end, she makes sure that her creations are playful and colorful. One particular inspiration is a Jasper stone found in one of her trips abroad. “Each (jasper) stone is different and tells a story that is unique from the other,†she says.

Despite having many opportunities in life, Tamara remains a very simple woman. She tells me how she is a free spirit and works on creations that sometimes come to her from out of the blue. She travels extensively to find herself in different cities around the world.
Tamara joins jewelry fairs around the world such as Couture in Las Vegas, Baselworld in Switzerland and the annual Hong Kong Jewellery Fair. One specific item that she raves about is a rotating ring. “The ring itself is very unassuming yet at the same time beautiful,†she reiterates. Never one to settle for the conventional, Tamara likes the ring because it can be worn for everyday use. However, the rotating feature keeps the person engaged. “I see jewelry as part of everyday life and as a reflection or an image of the person wearing it,” she says.

Having traveled to the Philippines before, she says a lot has changed and is happy with the development in and around the metro with buildings sprouting left and right. She is excited with what the Philippine society can do and feels lucky with meeting the Tantoco family in bringing her items to the Philippines.
