The 1834 Epicurean Masterclass promotes art of mixology

The masterclass gave attendees an immersive and interactive experience the covered the fundamentals of beverage crafting to advanced techniques. They left with practical skills and insights on using 1834 Premiere Distilled Gin for their mixes in an easy and doable way that can be applied to their creations, whether at home or in a professional setting.

Some of the country’s cocktail enthusiasts, bartenders and spirits connoisseurs were recently joined the Ginebra San Miguel’s exclusive 1834 Premiere Distilled Gin Epicurean Masterclass event, hosted by Paolo Abrera, at Kondwi Bar, Makati. The event offered a deep dive into the world of gin through mixology and pairings, featuring hands-on training from one of the industry’s most skilled professionals, 1834 Master Mixologist Niño Cruz.

Attendees had the chance to learn from an award-winning mixologist who has graced countless competitions, occasions, and momentous events all over the Philippines and abroad.

Open to gin enthusiasts, bar owners and key industry partners, the masterclass was designed to expand knowledge on using 1834 Premium Distilled Gin, which its makers dubbed as “the Philippine gin the world has waited for.”

Cocktail mixing workshop

Aside from the educational sessions, participants were able to engage in actual mixing workshop on creating cocktail mixes and food pairings, guided by cocktail expert and multi-awarded mixologist Niño Cruz. They were able to learn more about GSM’s 1834 Premiere Distilled Gin, the art of balancing flavors, mastering techniques and using fresh ingredients to create stunning drinks.

Exclusive tasting sessions

Attendees were also able to explore an array of flavors by tasting the cocktail they just learned to mix and experience the food pairings recommended for each drink. This allowed them to understand the flavors used in their mixes and gain insights into pairing these drinks with food, enhancing the tasting experience, and learning how to identify key flavor profiles.

Kondwi Bar provided delectable food pairs that went perfectly well with creations by our 1834 master mixologist. Who would have thought that you could incorporate the flavor of a favorite Filipino dish with the 1834 Adobo Gin & Tonic, especially when matched with the crispy yet delicate flavor of Kangkong Nachos?

Another pairing that the attendees also got to experience was the 1834 Bee’s Knees, a cocktail made sweeter by fresh honey, paired with a golden, crispy, and flavorful Empanada Roll.

To top it all off, gin enthusiasts also got a chance to try Kondwi’s specialties, Sinigang Pork Skewers and Mushroom chips paired with 1834’s unique cocktail, Gin & Co, with an unforgettable blend of Gin and coco.
