Something sweet and ‘spirited’ is coming your way, with the launch of the Fundador Café at the Venice Grand Canal Mall in McKinley Hill. The chic 50-sq.m. café is a showcase of everything that’s fun about the world’s largest and oldest brandy maker.
While Fundador remains to be the star attraction, the celebrated brandy shares the limelight with other stars in this establishment. “The Fundador Café was launched with the Filipino millennials in mind. It’s the Philippines’ first concept store where customers can indulge in a variety of beverages and cupcakes infused with liquor while shopping for rare and exclusive collections of Fundador,” says Kendrick Tan, executive director, Emperador, Inc.
So what exactly will you find in the Fundador Café?
For starters, raising the bar for its customers is the Fundador Café’s very own cocktail bar. Here, one can order a variety of liquor-infused desserts and cocktails.
The bar is also cupcake heaven, with each of the four variants – Sherry Butter Cupcake, Banana Cupcake, Chocolate Cupcake and Vanilla Butter Cupcake – infused with Harveys Bristol Cream. This adds clean, fresh and fruity flavors with spicy overtones, and a velvety smoothness to the pastry. The cupcakes are also topped with Harveys Dark Chocolate Ganache for an extra kick of alcohol.
If you’re up for the cupcakes, then you’re probably up for gelato as well (especially in Manila’s sweltering heat). Search no more for Fundador Café also has that covered. “The fun part at the Fundador Café is that we also have Gelato mixed with Harveys Bristol Cream,” shares Kendrick. “We highly recommend that customers try our Amara Dark Chocolate or Dulce De Leche because both will surely tickle your taste buds.”
The unique beverages, on the other hand, are mixed with different a Fundador brand. From the hot drinks, the store has the Fundador Café Latte, which has premium espresso combined with Fundador Gold Reserve and the classic Fundador Solera; Café Exclusivo, which has an exquisite blend of Fundador Exclusivo and the finest coffee beans to give drinkers the richness of coffee with an aroma of the finest brandy; and Double Salted Caramel, which is mixed with Fundador Double Light.
The cold choices, which are all perfect for summer, include Light Iced Tea mixed with a shot of Fundador Light; Café Solera, which is a premium roast coffee served with ice and a shot of Fundador Solera; and Harveys Mojito, which has the sweet taste of lemon and mint mixed with Harveys.
For blended drinks there’s Orange Passion, a sweet soda based drink blended with Harveys Bristol Cream; Fundador Frappe, an ice swirl of espresso infused with Fundador Gold Reserve and Fundador Solera; and Matcha Light, a sweet, creamy vanilla blend of your favorite matcha flavor fused with smooth Fundador Light for an extra kick.
Since most of the items are infused with alcohol, don’t be surprised if you get carded on your way to the store. But if you’re 18 and up, then there’s no need to worry. You’re definitely in for a heady, gastronomic party!
