The Tastes of Home: Central Square Presents the Philippine Harvest Agri Fair

There’s a reason why CNN voted the Philippines as one of the most exciting culinary cities to watch.

Filipinos aren’t just great chefs, cooks and self-proclaimed foodies; the very land we stand on grows a dizzying array of agricultural produce that make for the freshest and most unique ingredients our culinary delights are made of.

It’s easy to forget this with the sheer volume of new, exciting cuisines making their way to our shores and our palates, so the Central Square and SSI Group, Inc. in partnership with the Department of Agriculture presents Philippine Harvest: An organic, artisanal, natural and indigenous agri food fair from May 27 to 29.

The fair puts locally grown produce at front and center and encourages us to want to know more.

“This event will be an opportunity for us to meet some of our farmers, processors, and retailers of premium organic, natural, and indigenous products that reflect our culinary culture which is at par with international standards,” said DA Undersecretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, Undersecretary for Special Concerns, and Chair of the National Organic Agricultural Board (NOAB).

She added, “I encourage everyone to be co-producers; grow some of your own food; eat real food; visit a farm; shake the hand that feeds you; know the story behind the food that you eat; meet your farmers and fisherfolk; learn more about your local or regional food history and cultural dishes. If that’s too much for you, just buy food that supports our local farmers and fisherfolk.”

Expect to find and bring home lots of goodies every Filipino household’s kitchen should have like coconut and other coco products, adlai, heirloom and organic colored rice, artisanal chocolate, dairy products, honey, cacao, coffee, tabon-tabon, sua, and organic meat.

Open to the public during mall hours, the fair will be located on the ground floor of Central Square in Bonifacio High Street.
