The warmth of authentic Filipino home cooking in nippy Tagaytay

If you’re into home-style Filipino cooking amidst a cozy, family-friendly ambiance, then this restaurant is probably for you. Since its opening in 2012, Tia Belle’s Tagaytay has become one of the more popular restaurant-destinations in the area, offering mostly Metro Manilans on a weekend break with an authentic Filipino food experience.

Its heart-warming and mouth-watering menu always carries with it the essence of our country’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Must-try dishes at Tia Belle’s include authentic pancit Malabon, melt-in-your mouth pichi-pichi and such old and delicious reliables as miki bihon, bulalo lomi and mucho lomi.

Evelyn Wise (aka Tia Belle), the affable and hands-on owner of Tia Belle’s, shares with us how her years of hard work and passion eventually paid off for her restaurant business.

“Every time I am in the kitchen, cooking and concocting sauces, I feel like dancing — dancing with my wok,” she says with a smile.  Having spent two decades in Europe, it became clear to her that she wanted to put up her own Filipino restaurant upon her return to the country. Cooking has become second nature to this Nueva Ecija native.

From their meticulously prepared ingredients to the way they’re cooked, Tia Belle’s dishes are made more flavorful, as they’re also imbued with that all-important Filipino trait, which is hospitality. “We want to be of service to our fellow countrymen while keeping and incorporating the important values and traditions of what being Filipino is all about,” she shares. Part of the restaurant’s mission is to foster, share and celebrate Filipino cuisine and culture in a friendly and comfortable environment.

Furthermore, it puts a premium on quality and excellence. “We provide an optimal dining experience for our customers by making sure that their dining experience is our responsibility the minute they step into our restaurant,” Evelyn continues. “As for our food, only the freshest meat and healthiest ingredients will do.”

Tia Belle’s also seeks to offer inventive and creative Filipino food with no pretensions. “We want to give our customers an authentic and genuine glimpse of the Philippines by honoring and delving into the Filipino culture and traditions through our services, atmosphere, art and food,” she says.

A complete package

Tia Belle’s offers a complete package – from the food and ambiance (not to mention the soothing piped-in kundiman music), down to its friendly and welcoming staff. On most days, Evelyn herself is present to welcome guests and make them feel right at home.

Apart from catering to dine-in guests, Tia Belle’s also offers delivery, advance order and pick up, while strictly observing health protocols for everyone’s safety.

To complete the dining experience, Tia Belle’s has put up a gift shop for diners who want to bring home souvenirs and gifts for their loved ones.
