Hello, operator? Citibank launches Voice Biometrics in the Philippines

Conducting bank transactions over the phone has never been easier.

This month, Citbank, the Philippines’ largest foreign bank, launches Voice Biometrics — groundbreaking technology never before seen in the country that makes phone banking a pleasure, and not a chore, for its clients. With this latest innovation, a client’s voice automatically becomes their password and account authentication key. With Citibank, gone are the days of having to remember pins, passwords and a series of answers to security questions to conduct phone banking transactions.

This technology provides an additional layer of banking security as every client’s voice password is similar to that of a fingerprint; it is inimitable, unique to each person and cannot be reverse engineered when stored and tagged. Additionally, using voice passwords also significantly reduces the time spent verifying personal details, as clients’ voices are recognized after just 15 seconds or less, letting them conduct business more efficiently.

“Voice biometrics is a great example of how we at Citi listen to our clients and leverage technology to address their concerns,” says Citi Philippines Consumer Banking Head Bea Tan. “We are proud of our strong track record in innovation, and we are delighted to once again take the lead in introducing a game changer in the banking industry,” concludes Citi Philippines CEO Aftad Ahmed.
