Get your Philux Fix

Taking a look at furniture and homeware brand Philux today, you might never think that the chic label began as a mom and pop business that created most of their pieces in the family’s backyard.

Stephanie Kienle Gonzalez — Philux’s head of sales and business development, eldest daughter of Max and Zelda Kienle and the company’s founder — explains that the scene-stealing brand simply began with “two skilled carpenters creating rattan furniture” 37 years ago.

In all those years, what remained at the heart of their business is “how deeply passionate we are about Filipino craftsmanship and local furniture making. We are now a growing team and our vision is for our clients to feel the same way when choosing and owning a Philux piece,” Stephanie continues.

As she and her sister Jessica Kienle Maxwell continue to grow their business as guided by this vision, the duo proudly unveiled the Philux Fix campaign last Feb. 23 at the SM Mega Fashion Hall.

Philux Fix is a dual-purpose furniture and photo exhibit and collaboration that not only showcases the talent of the Philux’s Filipino craftsmen and the beauty of Filipino-inspired designs, but also shows that, indeed, the experience of purchasing a Philux piece “is personal and that furniture can be more than just mere objects,” Stephanie says.

For the campaign, Jessica explains that they “selected people, most of which are friends, to collaborate with us. We asked them to choose an existing Philux piece and customize it according to their needs, taste and preference.”

The results were absolutely delightful. Every Philux piece, while already beautiful in their original state, was given a personal touch and a background story — things that gave meaning to the role they play in their owner’s lives, and something that Philux hopes to do for its future patrons.
