Philippine Airlines shining through with four-star rating

Four stars and counting — Philippine Airlines was recently named as the country’s first and only four-star airline by Skytrax, the global authority on “on the ground and inflight service quality standards” for airlines around the globe.

The award brings PAL closer to its five-star goal, which it promised to pursue when it celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2016. The four-star rating also elevates PAL in the global field, where it now stands as one of only 50 four-star and five-star airlines in the world.

In a statement, PAL vice-president for marketing Ria Domingo shared the award not just with PAL employees, but with every Filipino that the airline represents. “As we move forward with our journey to our ultimate goal of getting five stars, let us all be proud and honored for this milestone. We will continuously innovate our products and services repeatedly, seamlessly and consistently — making every journey a celebration of the Heart of the Filipino,” she said.

In 2016, PeopleAsia named Philippine Airlines as its “Airline of the Year” and Chairman and CEO Lucio Tan as its Max V. Soliven Lifetime Achievement Awardee. PeopleAsia also released a special commemorative issue on PAL’s Diamond Jubilee.
