An Amorsolo in your home

In the Philippine art scene, very few pieces are as expensive, sought after and prized as the classics of Fernando Amorsolo — the Philippines’ first National Artist, the “Grand Old Man of Philippine Art.” While paintings of this Renaissance man are few and far in between, their beauty can now be seen in everyday items that Rustan’s has turned into beautiful objets d’ art.

Amorsolo’s famous rural landscapes can now be part of your personal living spaces thanks to exclusive, limited-edition home pieces inspired by his iconic artworks. They are now available in the iconic luxury department store. “All these beautiful images remind us of the simple, clean and beautiful Philippines of his era. These are artworks that make us even prouder of Papa,” says Sylvia Amorsolo Lazo, who also co-authored coffee table book Amorsolo: Love & Passion in 2017.

The collection finds the artist’s masterful, illuminated landscapes and portraits printed on 13-inch plates, microfibers, a set of coasters, card holders, and T-shirts depicting scenes from his iconic artworks: “Harvesting” (1951), “Planting Rice” (1954), and “Under the Mango Tree” (1939). There are also Pillow cushions, canvas tote bags, and pouches, emblazoned with the Fernando Amorsolo signature.

Amorsolo becomes the latest addition to The Rustan’s for the Arts campaign, a series of activities and offerings dedicated to Philippine art and Filipino artistry. Its first leg was launched March this year with an exhibit featuring artists Al Perez and Paulina Luz Sotto, with their artworks displayed and sold at Rustan’s.
